Groenekloof Site Clean
Thanks to all our members who were involved in the Groenekloof site clean in March

Groenekloof site on Monday 30th. It was a typically misty Hilton morning when we arrived,

I remember the days when Barry Hosford (ZS5IC) and I (ZR5UW/ZR5JX), along with many others, used to go in there to do maintenance. He also maintained the MARNET equipment that was co-located in there. Started off with just MARNET and 145.75 repeater, then added a 6m repeater. After the change of government in 1994 the MARNET equipment was removed and it was just ham radio in there. At some point around that time the city council stoppd paying for all electricity accounts (Groenekloef and Worlds View). Marnet time kept the vegetation at bay and also allowed Barry loads of time to look after the ham kit in that room.
I worked for Umgeni Water (1988-1995) and was up there for work many times. 🙂
