RIP Brian Lourens (ZS5BCB)
The members of the M.A.R.C club were saddened to hear about the passing of Brian (ZS5BCB)
Brian loved radios from a young age and was involved with radio repeaters and radio tower systems throughout his life. He was a police reservist and was heavily involved with the community of Howick’s CPS group. Brian helped them with anything radio related and was not shy to give away helpful radio gadgets to anyone interested and in need.
Even during his last days Brian could be seen driving around and engaging with community members helping keep Howick safe. Brian was a humble and thoughtful man but when there was someone in need or something important to say Brian would make sure he was heard.
Brian contributed hugely to the M.A.R.C club in terms of his vast pool of knowledge in electronics and contacts in radio dealing. This loss is not only of a man but of knowledge, experience and expertise.
The M.A.R.C club is devastatingly shaken and will miss Brian (ZS5BCB). We send our condolences to his family members.
